Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Edmonton has held its highly successful charity golf classic tournament since 1997. The annual event sells out in minutes! Bringing together more than 200 BOMA members and VIPs, it is one of our association’s most popular networking events of the year. BOMA Edmonton has been awarded legacy grant funding from the Alberta Real Estate Foundation for the first ever Indigenous Inclusion and Career Development in Commercial Real Estate project in Canada. The project will focus on training and employing Indigenous people in commercial real estate, while also filling critical information gaps on Indigenous employment figures in the industry and providing cultural awareness training to non-Indigenous owned commercial real estate companies.
The BOMA Edmonton Emerging Leaders Committee promotes commercial real estate careers to young people under the age of 40 especially and facilitates inter-generational connections. They do this through events, strategic initiatives, campaigns, mentorship programs, working with post-secondary institutions, and attracting emerging leaders to BOMA’s committees and board.
BOMA Edmonton has been awarded grant funding from the City of Edmonton and sponsorship from Paladin to date for this pilot project that aims to better understand, from properties’ perspectives, four key areas: occupancy rates, safety and security, vibrancy, and market and tenant trends that impact the local economy. The aggregate information would be shared to inform policy decisions, support collaboration, and address key issues that impact Edmonton’s growth and vibrancy, starting with the downtown core.
