Edmonton, AB – Edmonton has been recognized internationally for its boldness in commercial real estate. Today, Lisa Baroldi, President & CEO of BOMA Edmonton and North, was awarded the Sustainability Trailblazer Impact Award at the CREW Network gala in Austin, Texas.
The prestigious award is presented annually to an industry leader who demonstrates exceptional vision and measurable impact in advancing sustainability across environmental, social, and governance pillars. The award goes to “a change maker who does not accept the status quo and instead strives to help their company make a positive change in the world.”
This year, Baroldi’s selection places Edmonton shoulder to shoulder with cities such as Dallas, Boston, and San Diego. It is a rare Canadian win at the CREW Network conference, which draws approximately 1,500 industry leaders from across Canada and the United States each year.
Baroldi first won the local Edmonton CREW award in November 2024. The local chapter then nominated her for the international award. From championing Indigenous inclusion and equity in the industry to advancing environmental performance and governance standards, Baroldi’s leadership has transformed Edmonton into a model for global best practice. Her impact extends beyond buildings; she has redefined how commercial real estate can serve people, places, and the planet.
Baroldi was recognized for groundbreaking work that spans environmental leadership, social innovation, governance transformation, and global impact. She spearheaded a regional growth strategy for BOMA BEST to advance building performance; launched Canada’s first Indigenous inclusion project in commercial real estate; and championed rural and northern inclusion to ensure the benefits of industry growth reach beyond major centres. She has sponsored youth diversity initiatives such as the REET Institute and advanced gender parity on industry panels. Under her leadership, BOMA modernized its board and operations with transparency, accountability, and inclusivity at the forefront, which positioned Edmonton’s commercial real estate community as a global model for collaboration, equity, and sustainability.
“Lisa has elevated Edmonton’s reputation on the world stage,” said Cam Naqvi, Chair of BOMA Edmonton and North and President of Cameron Development Corporation. “The results speak for themselves. Under Lisa’s leadership, BOMA has strengthened our industry, modernized how we operate, and proven that Edmonton can compete with even our pace major markets. This award confirms what we already knew: Edmonton is a centre of excellence in commercial real estate.”
“The award win was a big surprise, and I’m grateful to my board, Edmonton CREW, and everyone who had a hand in making it possible. Commercial real estate isn’t typically associated with the kind of work this award celebrates, but there are many good things happening in the industry globally, and Edmonton is clearly a leader. I’m glad this award reinforces that work and reminds us that, whatever acronyms or labels we use, inclusion, sustainability, and good governance truly matter,” said Lisa Baroldi, President & CEO of BOMA Edmonton and North.
“Lisa is a disruptor and a visionary,” said Kara Engley, President of Edmonton CREW and Vice President, Finance at Camgill Development Corporation. “Her leadership proves that Edmonton is not only keeping pace with the world, we’re setting the standard. With both Lisa Baroldi receiving the Trailblazer Award and Patti Walsh the Catalyst Award, Edmonton is on the global map as a city driving meaningful change and shaping the future of our industry. We were also proud to see under-30 professional Jamellah Mekioui win a scholarship to the conference and take the stage this year to speak. It’s Edmonton’s moment to be celebrated, and we couldn’t be more excited.”
